The monument commemorates the end of the France-ruled Cambodia’s regime in 1953. It’s also used to commemorate the soul of combatants who laid down their lives for freedom of the country.
+ Toul Sleng Genocide Museum:
Prior to 1975, it was a high school. When the Khmer Rouge came to power, it was converted into the S-21 prison and interrogation facility. The building now serves as museum, a memorial and testament to the madness of Khmer Rouge regime.
+ Killing Field: This one is the site of the brutal executions of more than 17,000 individual, most of who first suffered through interrogation, torture and deprivation in Toul Sleng Prison (S-21) in Phnom Penh.
+ Russian Market:
It is of far less architectural interest than the Central Market, but has a larger and more varied selection of gifts and souvenirs: clothes, shoes, silks, carvings, compact discs, antiques or pottery. Here is also where you can try a large section of local dishes or buy refreshment.
